The Quest is On!
The Vermont Center for Ecostudies County Quest 2011
Fall Migration Now in Action!
Seems like we were just waiting for Spring arrivals and here we are in September, watching our summer breeding birds slowly take the long flight back home. But it has been a great breeding season, with LOTS of hummingbirds and orioles around and reports of lots of successful Eastern Bluebird fledglings all summer long.
October will bring the ducks around and who knows what else! Keep your eyes and ears open and make sure to enter your Bennington County sightings into eBird so we get our County Quest credit!

For a little history on how the Quest got started and more on the rules of birding for the Quest, check out the Vermont Center for Ecostudies site by clicking their logo below:
You’ll also find information on the other counties participating and who their captains are on their site.
So how it’s going to work?

1. Your Sightings:
Here's
the short answer - Vermont eBird. That's the only way it's going to
work. And while the fun part will be getting out there and finding the
birds, none of it will count if it's not counted in eBird.
If you're not familiar with eBird - just take a look around here
or click on the logo above and you'll be taken directly to the Vermont
eBird content page. And be brave - register and start entering your
sightings.
And that's where county captains in. If you're not familiar with
eBird, we're here to help. And we'd like to get you up and running on
eBird as quickly as possible. If you need any assistance, just fill out
the form below and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. And you can always drop your list off here at the store and we’ll make sure to get it entered.
What’s cool about eBird is that as the year progresses you can keep up with the county list by simply checking the data that’s been entered by everyone who puts their sightings on eBird.
2. Bird Walks - Watch Events - Click Here for Current Events!
Throughout the year, The Vermont Bird Place & others will be hosting bird walks in the county. We’ll be sure to post them on our Events Page as well as on our Facebook page and the VCE Quest pages as well.
There’s lots of corners in Bennington county that need to be checked out, so don’t be shy!
If you would like to submit a bird walk, or just have some time and would like some birding company, enter the information here or on the Facebook page and hopefully we’ll get birders from around the county connected and continue to grow an already strong tradition of birding here in Bennington.
Have a Question or an Event To Announce?
Please use this form below and we'll get back with you right away!
